Dr. Angarika Rakshit is a Development Economist, with research interests in issues of structural transformation, employment generation, and the political economy of development. Her work focuses on understanding the processes of structural change that is unfolding in India, and what these changes entail for different social and economic groups of individuals. In 2020, Angarika was awarded the Fulbright-Nehru Doctoral Research Fellowship in Economics, which enabled her to undertake research as a visiting fellow at UMass Amherst during her Ph.D.
She worked as Assistant Professor of Economics at the National Law School in Bangalore. Before joining NLS, Dr. Rakshit was a Post-doctoral Research Fellow at the Centre for Sustainable Employment at Azim Premji University Bangalore where she has worked on two consecutive State of Working India Reports on Identity and Labour Market Outcomes (2023), and Youth Employment (forthcoming).
