Student Parliament Elections 2025–2026

The Election Commission successfully conducted the General Elections for the Student Parliament 2025–26 this September. For the first time, elections for all batches were held in a single cycle—unifying what was previously a split process, with voting in April for older batches and in September for UG1 and PG1. This reform ensures that representatives from incoming batches join the Parliament right at the start of its term rather than midway through.

The election process ran from 2 September (opening of nominations) to 30 September (election of the General Secretary and Speaker). Following two rounds of nominations and background checks by the Student Life, Academic, and Hostel Offices, the candidate lists and manifestos were published. This was followed by speeches and batch-wise voting.

Elections were conducted for UG2k25, UG2k24, and PG2k25 (CSE + CSIS), while other batches had uncontested nominations. As no nominations were received from PG2k24, the batch currently has no representation in the Parliament.

Voter turnout was commendable, with 60% in UG2k24, 76% in UG2k25, and 87% in PG2k25 (CSE + CSIS).

Elected Members of Parliament:

  • UG2k25: Advait Vuppalanchi, Chandrahas Nandibhatla, Daniel Vincent, Hershi Jaiswal, Kattagani Haasini, Kimaya Arora, Shubham Gupta, Vrishin Manan Shah

  • UG2k24: Alapati Sai Pavan Adit, Chanda Akshay Kumar, Hemang Joshi, Neharika Rajesh, Pratyush Vempati, Sanyam Gandhi, Vedant Rahul Kulkarni, Veena Ramadas

  • PG2k25 (CSE + CSIS): Hritik Ranjan, Sunil Kumar, Vadla Shiva Kishan

  • UG2k23: Aaryan Kashyap, Anshul Krishnadas Bhagwat, Chaitanya Thogata, Sukasi Manidhar, Yaswanth Gangineni

  • UG2k22: Damini Chandi Priya Adusumilli, Devansh Kantesaria, Nallasingu Jagankrishna, Vaishnav Soham

  • UG2k21 (DD5): Arghya Roy, Prakhar Jain

  • MS/PhD/DD6+: Balalikhith Kanigolla, Naveen Gajingam, Pradeep Anagha, Shree Mitra, Surtani Monica, Vinay Lanke

  • PG2k25 (CASE + PDM): Gaurav Goswami

Following the general elections, the EC held an ice-breaker session to help the new MPs understand the Parliament’s structure, roles, and functioning.

After the mid-semester exams, nominations opened for the posts of General Secretary and Speaker on 25 September. The EC received three nominations for General Secretary—Anshul, Devansh, and Vinay—and two for Speaker—Likhith and Vedant.

In a significant step toward greater transparency and student participation, the election process, traditionally limited to MPs, was opened to the entire student body. All students were invited to attend speeches, interact with the candidates, and participate in the Q&A sessions. Voting was conducted via paper ballot, with Members of Parliament casting their votes in the presence of the audience, followed by open vote counting.

The Parliament elected Vinay Lanke as General Secretary and Vedant Kulkarni as Speaker for the 2025–26 session.

As General Secretary, Vinay will serve as the primary representative of the student body, liaising with the institute administration and coordinating the executive functions of the Parliament. As Speaker, Vedant will preside over all parliamentary meetings, ensuring procedural discipline and encouraging constructive debate.

The Election Commission extends its heartfelt congratulations to all newly elected Members of Parliament and office bearers. We also thank every candidate, voter, and volunteer who contributed to making the elections a success. Here’s to a productive and impactful year ahead for the new Student Parliament.
