When Your Campus Is A Rakshak
Even as engineering colleges across the country await a governmental nod for resuming normalcy in academic sessions, IIITH is quietly rolling out a slew of measures as part of a pilot project that will help other technical institutes reopen their campuses with a Covid-19 readiness plan in hand. “It is important to realise that this is the new normal. From what we’ve been hearing internationally with regards to various variants of the virus cropping up all over the world, the worst case scenario is that it will continue for another 1 or 2 years. So we have to learn how […]

Rahul Tallamraju – CSE
Rahul Tallamraju received his doctorate in Computer Science and Engineering. His research work was supervised by Prof. Kamal Karlapalem. Here’s a summary of Rahul Tallamraju’s thesis, Motion Planning for Cooperative Multi-Robot Target Following Systems as explained by him: Motion planning deals with the computation of a sequence of robot states and control actions to navigate between a start and a goal robot state. As part of this planning, a robot must detect environmental objects, monitor their changes, reason about them, and finally compute kinodynamically feasible real time trajectories for task-specific navigation. The work in this thesis is motivated by real-time […]
Santosh K – CSE
Santosh K received his doctorate in Computer Science and Engineering. His research work was supervised by Dr. Suryakanth V G. Here’s a summary of Santosh’s thesis, Generative models for learning document representations along with their uncertainties as explained by him: Majority of speech and natural language processing applications rely on word and document representations (or embeddings). The document embeddings encode semantic information which makes them suitable for tasks such as topic identification (document classification), topic discovery (document clustering), language model adaptation, and query-based document retrieval. These embeddings are usually learned from widely available un-labelled data; hence generative or probabilistic topic […]
