IIITH tops DataQuest and Dell Technologies surveys...
DataQuest in association with Dell Technologies conducted a survey on Digital Index of engineering colleges/institutions to estimate their digital infrastructure readiness and use of technology in coping with the COVID-19 outbreak. The colleges considered for the survey were established before 2016, and offer a BE, B.Tech or similar graduate-level technical courses. In this survey IIIT Hyderabad has been ranked second under India’s best 100 tech-enabled engineering colleges and institutions (including both government and private colleges), and has been ranked first in the South zone. The information collected was based on TIME (teaching, infrastructure, motivation, and environment) framework under the following parameters. […]

Praveen Krishnan – CSE
Praveen Krishnan received his doctorate in Computer Science and Engineering. His research work was supervised by Prof. CV Jawahar. Here’s a summary of Praveen Krishnan’s thesis, Learning Representations for Word Images as explained by him: Reading and writing documents is one among the primary skills with which we gather and communicate information. With the emergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI), researchers are in constant pursuits to build intelligent algorithms that can bring our physical and digital worlds close to each other. One such important domain is document image analysis, where we delve into the problem of understanding content from scanned document […]
B H V S Narayana Murthy – CSE
B H V S Narayana Murthy received his doctorate in Computer Science and Engineering. His research work was supervised by Prof. Yegnanarayana Bayya. Here’s a summary of Narayana Murthy’s thesis, Time Delay Estimation from Broadband Signals using Single Frequency Filtering as explained by him: Estimation of time delay from the received broadband signals like speech, collected at two or more spatially distributed microphones, has many applications, ranging from speaker localization, speaker separation, determining the number of speakers and tracking a moving speaker. Cross-correlation based methods like the cross-correlation of signals directly and generalized cross-correlation based methods (GCC, GCC-PHAT) have […]
