IIIT-Hyderabad hosted a LGBTQ Awareness event on 12 November. The aim of this session was to help the participants in broadening their perspective towards an inclusive society.
Guest speakers of the event were Vyjayanti Vasanta Mogli, Anupriya Mota and Aditya Raja
Vyjayanti Vasanta Mogli is a transgender woman actively involved in advocating the rights of transgender people and women. She is one of the founding members of Telangana Hijra Intersex Transgender Samiti (THITS), an unfunded and unregistered people’s collective and network of hijra and transgender people.
Anupriya Mohta is a marketing specialist currently working as an operations manager. She has worked in the social sector before her current role working with various causes such as children’s education and women empowerment. Currently, she’s an advocate for safe workspaces for LGBTQ folks in India and increasing representation across the board.
Aditya Raja is a computer programmer who works with a collective called Safe Spot that aims to create LGBTQ awareness, specifically in educational institutes.
