Shri. C Lakshmi Prasad, Director, State Disaster Response and Fire Services Department, Telangana  gave an online lecture on Fire Safety in high rise buildings, Important Clauses from National Building Code (NBC) on 29 September 2021 under the IAStructE and IIIT Hyderabad’s monthly lecture series.

Over the years the number of high-rise buildings are increasing in the built environment. Besides many disasters, fire safety plays  an important role because there were many fire accidents that occurred in high rise buildings leading to huge life-loss and irrecoverable property loss. Most of these accidents were caused due to negligence and non-adherence to fire safety standards laid down in the National Building Code. The talk provided detailed insights on fire safety in the context of the highrise buildings by highlighting the important provisions from the National Building Code of India.
