Mr. Baijesh Ramesh, a licensed clinical psychologist and life coach based in Hyderabad gave a talk online on psychological wellbeing amid the growing uncertainties due to COVID-19 on 29 July. Dr. Baijesh Ramesh interacted with faculty and staff during the online session. The talk was organized by Campus Health and Medical Committee to take care of the mental and emotional health and thriving during this age of social/physical distancing.
The COVID-19 situation is putting our lives in immense strain. It is affecting every individual and relationship in some way. Awareness and realization of psycho-social distress and defused distress is becoming an inevitable part of our life after the pandemic outbreak. This extraordinary situation has led people to worry about growing uncertainties, jobs, and economic growth; their mental and emotional wellbeing; struggles about keeping up with relationships, resolving conflicts, and loneliness among other challenges.
There’s a big difference between choosing to stay at home, and the same being imposed. The latter means a loss of autonomy and to add to that socialization being denied or limited, makes it extremely stressful for many individuals.
Mr. Baijesh Ramesh works as a consultant to various organizations such as Minerva Institute, San Francisco, Central University of Karnataka, Chetana Hospital, The Hyderabad Academy of Psychology, Silver Oak Health, and Physiotrix De Care among many. In the past, he served in the capacity of the Assistant Professor at the Central University of Karnataka and currently is a resource person to many academic institutions.
He is a mindfulness practitioner and guide, and he uses mindfulness-based interventions and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in his clinical practice extensively. He is an accredited trainer and practitioner of Solution Focused Approaches (SFA) with the Association for Solution Focused Approaches and Research. Apart from clinical practice and training, he conducts workshops, does independent research and provides supervision for clinical psychologists and counselors. He has published scientific articles in reputed national and international journals and has written chapters in books. He has contributed to contextualizing Solution Focused Approaches and Mindfulness-Based Interventions to the Indian context, for the treatment of depression, anxiety disorders and wellness in the organizational settings. He is the present research lead for the developing nations committee of Association for Contextual Behavioral Sciences.
