The world today is progressing rapidly, and it is imperative that this is reflected in our thoughts and actions. The best way to get introduced to ideas is through hands-on experiences and simulations, which draw a link between the body, feelings and emotions. We are about to witness an activity-filled engaging workshop which aims to open conversations about topics unspoken.

Gender Sensitization Committee (GSC) is organizing two days workshop on Gender Awareness. This is open for all IIIT community. The objective of the workshop is to increase the gender awareness among students and other people of IIIT community. The problems and challenges faced by people because of their gender identity will be discussed. The workshop also aims to organize various activities other than panel discussion on various gender related issues.

Dates: 18th , 19th March , 2019 (Monday and Tuesday)
Time : 3.30 pm- 7.30 pm
Venue : IIIT-Hyderabad H-105

Day 1: List of Events:

a) Inauguration (Duration: 30 minutes).
b) Gender and Workspace : (Duration: 30 minutes)
c) An Open Session: Discussing, Stalking, Friend Zone, Consent , Sexual Harassment etc. (Duration: 1.5 hour)
d) Unlimited Girls : A Film by Paromita Vohra and Discussion based on that (Duration:1.5 hour).

Parallel Session: Sculptures will be present in one dark room beside KCIS faculty room , whichever person wants to access it can access it without disclosing their identity.

Day 2: List of Events:

a) Gender and Housework (Duration: 30 minutes).
b) Talk by Sahitya Academy winner writer P. Lalitha Kumari “Volga” (Duration: 45 mins)
c) Stereotypes in Pop Culture (Duration: 1.15 mins)
d) Gender and Technology (Duration:1 hr ).
e) Revealing Sculptures and discussion (Duration:30 mins ).

Parallel Session: Sculptures will be present in one dark room beside KCIS faculty room , whichever person wants to access it can access it without disclosing their identity.

This 2-day workshop is bound to make you think, and will give you a safe space to talk, ask and discuss issues that you otherwise wouldn’t have considered.

With this thought in mind, the Gender Sensitisation Committee invites everyone for the same. It aims to address challenges and problems faced due to gender identity, an area which will help you break free from your shackles.
